THE VISIONARY

Talitha started Cumi Productions with a vision and a dream to help give a forum to issues in her community.

Given the name of Talitha 'Kumi" which translated means little girl I say to you arise, she decided early on to live up to her destined name sake.  Born and raised in Southern California, Talitha was exposed to the Arts her entire life.  In her sophomore year in college she was dancing for a positive hip hop rap group and they were looking to do something different as they performed. She wrote a skit to go along with one of their songs, "Speaking to the People" and things have not been the same since. The group  was able to tour the local high schools with their positive rap message and Talitha's skit. In the skit she wanted to tackle issues that friends and family had experienced; abuse, molestation, teenage pregnancy and low-self esteem. She wrote her first full length production in 1991 and thus Cumi Productions was born.

In 1993 she relocated to Kansas City Missouri where the company grew and she was able to tour local churches and schools wit the play. She realized the tremendous gift GOD had given her and she knew she needed to speak to the world through the Arts.

She began writing and producing other plays and began to have a local following in the Greater Kansas City, Missouri Area.  After Talitha relocated to the Dallas Metroplex she branched out into films and documentaries.  She has to her  credits;  "Speaking to the People", Daddy's First Christmas", "Between Me and God", "The Trial", "On the Road", "For Women Who have Considered Suicide When God is Enough", "Bag Ladies" and "Bag Ladies Too", No Returns, "Lay Away", "9 Lives (the ties that bind)" and Christy Dean's Marrying for the Wrong Reason.  She has also worked with Braeden's Chance , Styling Diva Productions , Pussiance Maison and Stage K Productions and Teco Production's Annual Playwright Competition as a director for the play "Super".
